Giving Back

In partnership with Board & Brew, the goal of the Seals Jumpstart Program is for every child in San Diego to have the opportunity to experience the game we love despite race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status or anything else. By partnering with the YMCA of San Diego County, we have been able to offer free introduction to lacrosse clinics to local kids from the community at Jackie Robinson Family YMCA and Copley-Price Family YMCA by underwriting the clinics at our own expense. 

Each year the Seals host their annual theme night, Stick Up For a Cure, to bring awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. Presented by Kings & Convicts Brewing Co., players proudly wear the names of those affected by cancer on their backs. The personalized jerseys are auctioned off after the game, with proceeds benefiting Rady Children’s Hospitals’ Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. The Seals also support Rady Children’s Hospital with fundraising efforts for their Light the Way campaign, to bring the holiday magic to San Diego kids spending their holidays in the hospital. 

The San Diego Seals have teamed up with 4ocean to body check plastic pollution! As a Certified Cleanup Partner of 4ocean, the Seals have committed to cleaning 50,000 pounds of trash from the world’s oceans, rivers, and coastlines throughout the 2022-23 season. You can support our goal of 50,000 pounds of trash by simply attending a Seals home game, as every ticket sold is 1 pound closer to our goal. The Seals also host local beach cleanups in San Diego to support this initiative and keep our San Diego beaches beautiful.

In partnership with sponsor Hollandia Dairy and our dedication to promotion an active and healthy lifestyle, Hollandia donates 6 gallons of milk to the San Diego Food Bank for every Seals goal scored at home. During the 2021-22 season, the Seals scored 133 goals at home, tuning into a whopping 786 gallons of milk donated.

Each year, the Seals are proud to partner with San Diego Mayor, Todd Gloria, and San Diego Unified School District as part of the annual back-to-school celebration. Partnering with Belmont Park, the Seals donate backpacks to students and families across San Diego leading up to the school year, to ensure students are prepared with the resources they need to succeed in school.

The San Diego Seals are proud to partner with the YMCA of San Diego County to significantly enhance access to the sport of lacrosse in under-resourced communities in the San Diego region. High quality weekly lacrosse clinics take place at eight YMCA branches to introduce the sport to more children and generate greater interest in the sport.

In partnership with Board & Brew, the Seals conduct school visits throughout the year to support anti-bullying, a healthy and active lifestyle, and the fundamentals of lacrosse.

The Seals have dedicated their 2022-23 season home opener to First Responder Appreciation Night, with proceeds benefiting STARPAL & Shop With a Cop. Tickets sold through law enforcement and first responder agencies will create funds for STAR/PAL, which focuses on building meaningful relationships between law enforcement and youth through engaging activities like their Shop With a Cop program.
