Game Preview: Panther City vs San Diego

The San Diego Seals are back in action on Saturday night to take on the visiting expansion Panther City Lacrosse Club. The teams will faceoff for the very first time at Pechanga Arena San Diego at 7:00pm PT.

The Seals welcome Panther City to San Diego after three weeks off. Last time out, San Diego defeated Calgary on the road highlighted by a seven-goal performance from forward Dane Dobbie. The team is now on a two-game win streak and enters Saturday’s game with a 2-1 record.

“Consistency is key,” said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. “We played two good games, but we’re not taking anything for granted. We know what it takes to win, and we have to continue to play our style of lacrosse. We’ve had a break here, so we need to be focused, disciplined and prepared for a good game on Saturday night.”

This weekend’s matchup will feature the return of two former Seals to San Diego. Goaltender Nick Damude and transition player Johnny Pearson will make their first trip to America’s Finest City as visitors. Panther City currently sits in fifth place in the West Division with an 0-3 record.

“They’ve played some good games and we’re not going to take them lightly,” continued Merrill. “They took Philly to overtime and played close games, they’re going to come out hungry and we need to be prepared.”

Forward Dane Dobbie leads the Seals offense with 11 goals and 18 points. Goaltender Frank Scigliano has been the backbone between the pipes leading the league with a 8.00 goals against average. Rookie forward Tre Leclaire leads all NLL rookies in points (12) and ranks second in goals (6) through Week 3 of the NLL season.

Tickets for Saturday night’s game are available at SealsLax.com. Fans unable to attend the game will be able to watch the game on ESPN+. ESPN will stream all San Diego Seals games throughout the 2021-22 season.
