SAN DIEGO DEFEATS LAS VEGAS 14-10 ON THE ROAD

The San Diego Seals came away victorious in a 14-10 win against the Las Vegas Desert Dogs at Michelob ULTRA Arena in a physical matchup on Saturday night.

The night got started by the Seals with goals from Staats and Dobbie, followed by a 5 goal run from the Desert Dogs led by Greer and Kirst. Las Vegas brought the lead to 6-3 at the start of the 2nd, and then the Desert Dogs goalie, Landon Kells, was injured and headed to the locker room for the remainder of the half. Backup goalie Joel Watson stepped in, and the Seals went on a 4 goal run with goals from Berg, Dickson, and Leclaire, tying the game 7-7 at half.

Kells stepped back into the goal for Las Vegas in the 2nd half, and it was a defensive battle with both Kells and Scigliano stepping up in the goal. It was San Diego that pulled away in the half with the Seals offense putting on a demo. Fan favorites Wes Berg, Austin Staats, and Curtis Dickson all finished with a hat trick, and a special one for Dickson.

With just 0:30 seconds to go in the game, Dickson got his 3rd of the night on a power play, marking his 500th career goal. This makes Dickson only the eighth player in NLL history to accomplish such a feat. Dickson’s accomplishment is the second one of its kind this season for the Seals, with two Seals players joining the 500 club. You may recall teammate Dane Dobbie reaching the same feat on March 11 in Saskatchewan, as the seventh player in history.

Additionally, Saturday’s win secured goaltender Frank Scigliano’s title as the 16th goalie in NLL history to get 50 career wins.

After Saturday’s win, the Seals have guaranteed a quarter final playoff game at home in The March to May. In regard to finishing out the last 3 games of the regular season, San Diego defensemen and X Factor Danny Logan said, “Our motto the whole year is to just take a step forward every game, and thats what were trying to do, no steps back.”

“Every game we try to get better in little areas, and I think we’ve done that. So its just continuing to getting to better and go into the playoffs with some momentum.”

The Seals have 3 games remaining, next week away vs. Colorado on the 14th, and two home games vs. Las Vegas on the 22nd and then Colorado again on the 29th.
