SEALS DEFEAT ROUGHNECKS, DOBBIE SCORES SIX GOALS IN VICTORY

The San Diego Seals remain undefeated to start the 2022-23 season after a 17-14 win against the Calgary Roughnecks at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday night.

“It’s always nice to get a win in this building,” said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. “It was obviously a big night for Dickson and a lot of the guys. Glad we were able to come out with a win.”

An explosive first half, San Diego notched a franchise-high 13 goals in the first half taking an eight-goal lead into the locker room after the first 30. The Roughnecks did their best to complete the come-back, but the Seals were able to hold to take a 3-0 record into the new year.

“I sound like a broken record, but you’ve gotta play a full 60 in this league,” continued Merrill. “We came out strong and fast and built up a good lead and thankfully we did because they almost came back to get us. We’ll continue to tighten things up and tweak some things and get ready for another battle against Vancouver.”

Former Roughnecks Dane Dobbie, Curtis Dickson and Wesley Berg registered a combined 24 points against their former foe. Dane Dobbie led the team’s offense with six goals and nine points, Curtis Dickson continued his hot start notching four goals and eight points while Wesley Berg finished the night with seven points.

The San Diego Seals return home on Saturday, January 7 to face the Vancouver Warriors at Pechanga Arena. Reserve your seats today at SealsLax.com.
