The San Diego Seals dropped a heartbreaker on Friday night in Vancouver when the team fell to the Warriors by a final score of 14-12. After tying the game in the fourth quarter, the Seals couldn’t complete the comeback against the West Division rival.

“They outworked us tonight,” said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. “That was the bottom line. We had our chances, and we couldn’t finish. This is a tough one to drop.”

Forward Dane Dobbie led the Seals offense with four goals and eight points on the night, including the game-tying goal. Forwards Brett Hickey, Zack Greer and Austin Staats all contributed a pair of goals in the loss. In a game of catch-up, San Diego’s offense couldn’t find a way to comeback and secure the win on the road.

“It was nice to see [Dane Dobbie] have a good game here,” continued Merrill. “We needed him to step up tonight with Wes out, and he did. They played us tough, they always do.”

Goaltender Frank Scigliano stopped 33 shots on the night while the defense limited the opponent’s special team opportunities. It was an eventual short-handed goal scored by the Warriors that secured the season series for Vancouver.

The Seals will head to Toronto next week to take on the Rock on Saturday, April 2. San Diego will have an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth with a win in the game.
