A San Diego staple returns on Saturday, April 22 as the Seals host their annual cancer awareness night, Stick Up For a Cure presented by Kings & Convicts Brewing Co. benefiting Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego. Stick Up For A Cure debuted in 2019, with special meaning for players and fans alike. Players proudly wear the names of those affected by cancer on their backs, and present their game jerseys to those fans and their loved ones immediately following the game.
The personalized jerseys will be auctioned off for the cause. Each auction winner will choose the name of who their player is Sticking Up For, which will appear on the player’s lower-back with a ribbon symbolizing the type of cancer that has affected them. Kings & Convicts will generously match the first $2,500 in auction donations.
“Childhood cancer awareness and research is a cause very near to the Kings & Convicts family, and it’s important for us to support local efforts to raise funds for lifesaving research and treatment,” said Brendan Watters, CEO and co-founder of Kings & Convicts Brewing Co. “We’re happy to once again partner with the San Diego Seals and the team’s Stick Up For A Cure game to bring awareness and much-needed support to Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.”
“Rady Children’s is proud to continue our partnership with the San Diego Seals and honored once again to be the beneficiary of the Stick Up For A Cure game,” said Alexandra Loker, Vice President of Philanthropy at Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation. “All funds raised from this game will benefit Rady Children’s Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the largest pediatric hematology/oncology program serving children and adolescents in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. We hope to see our family, friends and community at the game to support our patients and families and cheer on the San Diego Seals.”
“We’re excited to dedicate another home game to this amazing cause,” said Seals President Steve Govett. “We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and it’s essential for our community to support them with their battle. It also gives our players a chance to play for something bigger than just a win.”
The Seals return to Pechanga Arena for Opening Day on December 9. Tickets for Opening Day and the annual Stick Up For a Cure game night are available here and start as low as $15. Season ticket memberships are also on sale and start at just $81 for the entire season.
