Warriors vs. Seals: Game Preview

The San Diego Seals welcome the Vancouver Warriors to America’s Finest City for a Saturday matinee at Pechanga Arena. The last time these two club’s faced each other, the Seals were victorious in overtime after captain Brodie Merrill buried the game winning goal less than two minutes into extra time.

“We’re treating this game like a playoff game,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “This would be a big win for us in many ways. We would secure the season series with a division rival and keep us in the hunt going into the second half of the season. We know what we need to do to win, and this group of guys can do it, so it’s just about going out there and executing our game plan for a full 60 minutes.”

Saturday’s tilt could also be a record setting game for Seals captain Brodie Merrill. The 16-year NLL veteran is eight loose balls away from breaking the NLL All-Time record (2,517). Merrill is also two penalty minutes shy from reaching 500 career PIM, where he would join elite company as one of only seven players (including older brother Patrick Merrill) to reach that mark.

“I’m very happy for Brodie and honored that I’ll get to be there with him when he breaks the record,” continued Merrill. “He leads by example, he does everything right, he’s a true leader, and there’s no one more deserving. Brodie is a true professional and we are lucky to have him here in San Diego.”

This will be the second of three matchups between San Diego and Vancouver during the 2019-20 regular season. All-time, the Seals own a 3-1 record over the Western Division foes. Rookie forward Connor Fields had a breakout game against the Warriors on December 29, netting a career-high four goals.

The Seals are proud to offer fans a variety of ticket packages for the Saturday matinee at Pechanga Arena. The Coronado Brewing Co. Party Pack includes two tickets and four beers for only $29. The Family 4 Pack includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four drinks for only $49. Join the Seals at Knockaround Field for a post-game party with Cali Comfort BBQ. Enjoy food, drinks, autograph session, raffle, prizes and more immediately following the game.

Fans unable to attend the game on Saturday will be able to watch the game on Síntesis TV and B/R Live. B/R Live – Turner’s live sports streaming service – will stream all San Diego Seals games throughout the 2019-20 season. FOX 5 San Diego will also broadcast the game locally at 5:00 PM PT.
