For the past 14 years, Jam by the Sea has been a way for lacrosse players of all ages to get together and play the game they love. With the ocean breeze and competitive atmosphere, women, men and kids come together each year in Ocean Beach knowing that just by participating, they’ve already won.
Jam by the Sea founder and president Matt Holman partners annually with the American Cancer Society to help “join the fight” after losing an older sister, Cindy, and a longtime friend, David, to cancer.
“That’s what gets me excited, playing for a cause is what it’s all about,” said the tournament organizer. “Not to mention the great teams and individuals who’ll travel to SD to compete.”
Lacrosse players have this event circled on their calendars months in advance, and Holman says that players “consider this a ‘must’ for these types of tournaments all around the world.”
This year, a Seals presence at the tournament will enhance the experience for participants and attendees.
“We’re eager to attend the event,” said Josh Gross, vice president of business operations for the pro team. “The combination of a great sport, in a great location, tied to a great cause is what makes Jam by the Sea so unique.”
Jam by the Sea will be held at Robb Athletic Field this weekend. CLICK HERE for tournament details.
